Gul Bahao, an NGO working to transform thrash and garbage of the city into useful form, has said 'Fuel Pack' that it has made from waste material could help resolve acute problems of electricity, the city is facing.
According to Gul Bahao, Fuel Pack is an environment friendly alternate fuel, very good substitute for oil, because it does not give out any toxic fume while it is cheap and easily available. It can be easily used as fuel for thermal power stations.
Giving background of the Fuel Pack, Gul Bahao said in 2006 from February to April it collected different kinds of industrial waste from 80 factories of EPZ (Export Processing Zone) by means of 8 trucks on daily basis and it conducted experiment on them.
The techniques used in preparing fuel pack are the same that have developed by Gul Bahao for making its famous "Wastic Blocks" and taken years. Considering grave power situation, Gul Bahao asked government to consider fuel pack as fuel for thermal power stations. The advantage of this alternative fuel is its easy availability as well as its low cost. It may be mentioned Gul Bahao has been experimenting with waste material for last 13 years and so far has spent 40 million.
