The lawyers observed token strike here in the metropolis in protest against the suspension of Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and did not appear before the courts for one hour.
The senior bar members, office bearers, political workers, human rights activists and members of other organisation of the civil society joined the hunger strike camps set up by lawyers.
The political workers and human rights activists while expressing solidarity with lawyers chanted slogans against the government, President General Pervez Musharraf, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Husain and Chief Minister Punjab.
They assured the representatives of the lawyers to continue their support in their struggle for independence of judiciary and revival of Chief Justice of Pakistan.
