The City District Government Rawalpindi (CDGR) would allocate sufficient funds in the next fiscal year budget for construction of hospitals, roads and schools in the district, said City District Nazim Raja Javed Ikhlas on Saturday.
He reiterated that in next year, the CDGR would construct modern hospitals in every union council, 12 roads with the cost of Rs 50 million besides, installing 175 filtration plants in the city union councils.
Addressing a gathering in Union Council 33 Kartarpura here, the Nazim promised to change the worn out water pipelines costing Rs 7 million. The district government has scrutinised a plan according to which within two and half years Rawalpindi will be a modern city, he added.
He said more sanitary workers would be appointed in July, adding they would also be provided small vehicles for carrying waste. He also said in this connection dumper and other big vehicles have also been bought.
The Nazim said as they had started the project it might be creating hardships for citizens at the moment but all problems would be solved on permanent basis, for which all necessary steps had been taken. He said that due to unhygienic conditions, the ratio of stomach and gastro-enteritis diseases increasing, he cited the examples of Kasur, Faisalabad and other cities where people had died of such diseases.
