Hailing the efforts of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), President Shabir Ahmed Shah to forge unity among the Kashmir liberation leadership, the Pakistan-based Kashmiri leaders have said that unity between the two splinter groups of APHC was imperative to achieve the ultimate goal for which the people of the state have rendered huge sacrifices.
To consider the present political situation in Indian occupied Kashmir, a meeting was held with DFP vice-president Mehmood Ahmed Saghar in the chair. Rafique Ahmed Dar, Tufail Altaf, Abdul Mateen, Saleem Haroon, Hassan-ul-Banna and Ejaz Rehmani also attended the meeting.
Expressing satisfaction over the unity moves carried out by the DFP chief, they said that at this crucial stage unanimity and concurrence in the Hurriyat ranks was essential to meet the challenges both internally and externally.
They described unity as a key to success and urged the pro-movement leaders to bury their differences and get united for the greater cause of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, who put everything on stake just to attain their inalienable right to self-determination.
The participants observed that to pursue the cherished goal of freedom, a strong and well organised forum, reflecting the collective will of the people was needed so as to give credence to Kashmiris' voice. They said that the pro-freedom leaders and organisations should respond to the unity moves positively in order to get the nation out of chaotic situation existing in the occupied territory.
