The Egyptian state wheat buyer said on Friday it had cancelled a tender for US, French, Australian, German, Argentine, Kazakh, Russian, British or Syrian wheat.
"It's because the total cost is high," said el-Hefny, vice-chairman of the General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC). He did not elaborate. GASC had said it wanted to buy 30,000 to 60,000 tonnes of wheat for shipment between July 11 and 20.
