The Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) on Thursday said that any mosque or madrassa, which was built on illegal land is contrary to the Islamic law.
Dr Mohammad Khalid Masud, Chairman of the CII said this while responding to a question at a press briefing on the three years performance of the Council here. He said that Islam did not allow anyone to build a mosque or maddrassa without getting the possession of that piece of land. Any body, who built mosque on illegal land was committing sheer violation of the Islamic laws, and should be punished, he added.
Expressing his reservations over not incorporating Council's recommendations in the legislation, Dr Masud proposed to establish a special National Assembly Standing Committee for considering recommendations of the CII while framing legislation.
During last three years, he said, the Council forwarded almost 70 recommendations regarding Islamic law, and most of them were not considered in the National Assembly. He also said that the recommendations, which were given on the controversial Hasba and Women Protection Bills were also not followed in a proper manner.
About Hasba Bill, he said, the Council recommended to exclude all those clauses from the Bill on which laws already existed and needed to be implemented. But, that was also not followed by the MMA government, he added. He said the Council had recommended bailing out all those women, who were in different jails under Hudood Ordinance as to check further evils in jails.
