Panamagate case: Supreme Court resumes hearing
ISLAMABAD: A five-member larger bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa, resumed hearing the Panama Leaks case on Monday.
The bench also include Justice Azmat Saeed, Justice Ijaz Afzal, Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Ijaz-ul-Hasan.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) submitted the record of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar's statement in the Supreme Court on Monday. The bench had in previous hearing ordered the NAB to submit the record.
Shahid Hamid, the counsel for Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's daughetr Maryam Nawaz, Capt (Retd) Safdar and Ishaq Dar presented his arguments before the apex court today.
The counsel for the PM's son Hussain Nawaz, Salman Akram Raja, is also scheduled to start his arguments today.
Makhdoom Ali Khan, the counsel of Prime Minister Sharif, submitted before the bench details about the properties and their settlement amongst the family members of the premier. The prime minister's counsel will also submit details of gifts received and the division of properties.
Meanwhile, Shahid Hamid, Counsel of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has completed his arguments.
During proceedings on Friday, the bench had remarked that people were complaining the hearing was proceeding slowly, adding that the court was not subject to people's wishes and would not be intimidated by anyone.
The case would be heard until all the requirements of justice were fulfilled, Justice Asif Saeed Khosa had remarked.
Meanwhile, NAB presented details of Dar's apology stating that on April 20, 2000, the minister requested for forgiveness and his confession statement was recorded on April 25.
In the previous hearing, the bench directed the prosecutor National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to produce the record of confessional statement of Ishaq Dar he made in Hudaibiya Paper Mills reference.
