Chinese Foreign Ministry holds quiz

Published Updated

hasdaBEIJING: Pakistan's Ambassador to China, Masood Khan took part in the balloting for selecting winners for Pakistan-China quiz at the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs here on Friday.

The Director General of Asia Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and former Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Luo Zhaohui also took part in the balloting.

The contest, aimed at testing general knowledge of the Chinese people about Pakistan, was organized to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Pakistan-China diplomatic ties. The event was jointly organized by the Foreign Office of China, the Philatelic Society of China and the Embassy of Pakistan.

The quiz containing five simple questions about Pakistan and Pakistan-China friendship were advertised soon after the Prime Minister of Pakistan visited Beijing in the month of June, inviting replies from the general public.

More than 2000 Chinese citizens sent their replies on postcards to take part in the month-long contest. About 1500 answers were correct and selected for taking part in the ballot.

Ambassador Masood Khan; Director General, Luo Zhaohui; Vice President of China Philately News, Ms. Zhang Huan Xue and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of People's Posts and Telecommunications News, Zhang Xue Jun randomly picked up eight lucky winners each from the lot.

The 32 winners would get sets of printed envelopes with two commemorative stamps issued by Pakistan Post this year containing the pictures of the Presidents and Prime Ministers of the two countries.

Ambassador Khan thanked Lou Zhaohui for arranging such an event which proved that Pakistan-China friendship goes beyond the level of leadership and has taken roots in the hearts of the two peoples.
