PESHAWAR: A suicide attack targeted a police officer in northwest on Friday, killing him and his driver on the outskirts of the garrison city of Nowshera, police said.
The suicide bomber blew himself up alongside the officer's private car as his driver slowed down to approach a speed bump in Risalpur. The targeted officer was the local police official in charge of the suburb.
"It was a suicide attack, the police officer and his driver were killed," Israr Ullah Khan, a senior police officer told AFP by telephone from the scene.
"He was the target. It looks like the bomber was waiting for him," he added.
Two people, another police constable and a passer-by were wounded.
Mohammad Hussain, Nowshera police chief, confirmed the casualties.
