KARACHI: National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) has received Rs. 274 million from Pakistan Railways after which disbursement of pension to PR pensioners in Lahore continued smoothly the entire day.
According to NBP announcement here Thursday, bank staff worked continuously for 16 hours Wednesday and ensured that each and every pensioner present in the branch should be entertained.
It said that additional counters, setup at different branches and extended working hours mainly helped in meeting the huge pensioners demand which came up due to non-availability of funds from Pakistan Railways.
NBP's pension distribution branches will function after working hours to facilitate the pensioners, the announcement added.
As soon as the funds were made available, NBP staff made every effort to ensure smooth disbursements. In addition, to increase in the number of counters shade and water arrangements were also made at the branches.
The announcement further said that NBP management has also decided that its selected pension distribution branches will function on holidays, if there is a need to fulfill Pakistan Railways pensioner's requirements.
