1,02,301 persons affected in Badin: Sharjeel

flood_400KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Information, Sharjeel Inam Memon has said that 1,02,301 persons were affected in 6,395 village of Badin district during recent rains.

This he said while talking to mediamen at his office here Thursday, said a statement.

He said that at 69 human lives perished during this natural calamity while as many as 375,718 acres of agriculture land become submerged, more than 382,562 houses were damaged, besides 984,805 acres of also affected Badin during the recent rain, he said.

He said that in 12 relief camps of the district Badin around 5,630 affectees are still present and they are being provided with food and shelter. They are also being provided health care facilities.

He further said that till now the affectees of the district have been given 43,267 tents, 2000 shelters (IOM) 19,750 plastic sheets, 655,408 family packs, 13,824 blankets, 1651 water purification unit, 238,624 drinking water bottles and 39,862 mosquito nets.

Besides, 5000 family packs, 5000 mosquito nets and 500 plastic sheets have been dispatched on October 27 by PDMA to the affected areas in the districts of Mirpurkhas Umerkot and Sanghar.
