The sinking of largest ship ever made, The Titanic, has become one of the universal truths of all-time. However, latest evidence shows entirely new story of the historic demise.
More than 1,500 passengers lost their lives when the Titanic sank on route to New York from Southampton in April 1912. While the cause of the disaster has long been attributed to the iceberg, fresh evidence has surfaced that a fire in the ships hull, which researchers say burned unnoticed for almost three weeks leading up to the collision, foreign media reported.
In a documentary titled Titanic; The New Evidence aired on the UKs Channel 4 on New Years Day, author and Titanic expert Senan Molony claims newly uncovered photographs prove a fire in the ships hull played a much larger role in its sinking than previously believed.
Journalist Senan Molony, who has spent more than 30 years researching the sinking of the Titanic, studied photographs taken by the ships chief electrical engineers before it left Belfast shipyard. Maloney said he was able to identify 30-foot-long black marks along the front right-hand side of the hull, just behind where the ships lining was pierced by the iceberg.
