The iconic Hollywood sign turns Hollyweed

Residents of US city of Los Angeles welcomed their new year with a big change i.e. their iconic Hollywood sign reading "Hollyweed." The change seems to be the work of an apparent prankster.

The social media blasted on the recent development, as the users were quick to notice the change, and took to Twitter to express their surprise and bemusement.

As per CNBC, a vandal climbed up the sign and used a tarp to create an effect turning both 'O's in the sign to 'E's, informed a representative for the Los Angeles Police Department's. The representative added that the incident was being investigated as an act of trespassing.

The iconic sign of Hollywood has been a fixture in Hollywood Hills for nearly 100 years, the sign also signifies LA popular culture power. However, the sign, has been a prime target of mischief-makers over the years, was once defaced in 1976 as well.
