Govt should seek Interpol's help in bringing back Musharraf: Qaim
SUKKUR: Pakistan People's Party (PPP) leader and former Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has called on the federal government to seek the help of Interpol to bring former president and military ruler Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf back to Pakistan.
Speaking to media representatives at the airport here on Monday, Shah claimed that Pervez Musharaf was a criminal in the Benzair Bhutto murder case. The former chief minister said arrest warrants had already been issued for Musharraf.
"Only time will tell if he returns or not. If the interior minister wants he can bring him back," he said.
Shah alleged that the federal government had taken a soft stance over the issue. "Interpol was used to bring Rehman alias Bhola back, why can't Interpol be asked for help to bring Musharraf back?" he said.
The former chief minister was speaking to the media on his way back from Larkana after reviewing arrangements being made for the 9th death anniversary of former Prime Minister Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, scheduled to be held on December 27.
Sindh police have finalized the security plan for the event.
Former President of Pakistan and PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari is also expected to reach Larkana to oversee arrangements of the main rally tomorrow and attend a meeting of the partys Central Executive Committee.
Meanwhile, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has already reached the Naudero House, who along with the top PPP leadership will attend the rally.
