Hasan Raza introduction to the international cricket was nothing short of a dream come true after he became Test crickets youngest ever player some twenty years ago. He has now started out on his second life in the international game and all set to appear for the UAE soon.
"I want to play as soon as possible for the UAE team," Raza, a middle-order batsman who played sevens Tests for Pakistan, was quoted as saying by The International.ae.
The 34 year-old Pakistani, who last played for the homeland back in 2005, was disappointed for not being able to make into the team since then. However, he was optimistic that his second stint at the top level would be fruitful.
"I played Tests for the last time in 2005, against England in Lahore and Multan. They didnt want to select me to come back for the Pakistan team, and I was disappointed in that. UAE have a lot of cricket, good grounds, good conditions and I want to play. I have kept in touch with the management, and I am eligible from next year," he added.
Raza was 14 when he debuted for Pakistan against Zimbabwe in 1996, and is still regarded as the youngest to have played the format. He remained active in the domestic A division cricket in the UAE as a guest player despite being involved in the Pakistans first-class game.
