Senate body voices dissatisfaction over recruitments in FBR
ISLAMABAD: The Senate Special Committee on Wednesday expressed dissatisfaction over the presentation of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) about recruitments and sought all details on the basis of provincial quotas.
The Committee, headed by Leader of House in the Senate Syed Nayyar Hussain Bokhari, asked that the Federal Minister for Finance and Secretary should come in the next meeting scheduled for Thursday to give the details about recruitments.
The Committee, specailly constituted by the House to discuss the appointments made in FBR form 2007 to January, 2011. Members of the Committee Muhammad Zahid Khan and Dr Abdul Malik said they were also not satisfied about the briefing given by FBR officials.
The concerned departments must have concrete reasons that the appointments were made on merit, following the provincial quota system, they added.
Nayyer Bokhari asked the officials to improve their performance and provide details.
Earlier, the Committee discussed in detail appointments made on the basis of provincial quotas with break-up of all carders.
The Committee was briefed by FBR officials about the recruitment in FBR during last four years.
The official said in land Revenue Services BS-17, total 144, in Pakistan Customs Service BS-17 total 79 persons and in BS-1 to 15, 489 were appointed after meeting all the requirements.
He said the FBR was going through a reform process, therefore no recruitment in BS-1 to 15 grades was made till 2009. However, appointments in the Pakistan Customs Service and Inland Revenue Service continued through competitive examination conducted by the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC).
He said after completion of reform process and lifting ban on fresh recruitment by the government during 2009, the recruitment process was initiated and these were made in FBR and its field formations.
He said Balochistan is an important province, full of resources and its people should be given jobs as per quota.
