ISLAMABAD: As the Eid-ul-Azha is approaching, but usual hustle bustle is not seen in the markets of sacrificial animals because of their unaffordable.
Some people have started buying sacrificial animals but the majority is waiting for the fall in their prices, which they hope may occur a few days prior to Eid.
The animals are mostly brought from various districts of the Punjab including Attock, Tala Gang, Chakwal, Gujar Khan, Rajan Pur, Sargodha, Mianwali, Choa Saddan Shah, Okara and Mandi Bhauddin to the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) will arrange 10-day sacrificial animals markets in different areas of the Capital city.
Niamatullah, who is a trader of animals, told APP that there was a shortage of sacrificial animals this year and their high prices were keeping away the people from the markets.
He said the price of a healthy medium-size goat was not less than Rs 15,000, while a medium weight heifer would cost around Rs 45,000.
He said last year prices of goats ranged between Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000 and heifers between Rs 25,000 to 35,000."
