ISLAMAABD: The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has pleaded the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) to approve Rs1.76 hike in power tariff.
In a writ petition, CPPA contended that, last month, it faced decline in power production through wind power houses and natural gas, therefore, electricity would now be produced by furnace oil to adjust overall production.
NEPRA authorities said the tariff hike was sought for fuel adjustments in September, adding that lifeline consumers would be exempted from the proposed increase.
CPPA's petition will be taken up next week for hearing.
Earlier, NEPRA has already approved Rs3.4 per unit hike for August.
