Pakistan star All-rounder Shahid Khan Afridi is currently active at the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and is picking up wickets for the Rangpur Riders.
Despite having a blast at the BPL, Afridi who is also leading the Rangpur Riders remains out of the Pakistan squad and it seems that performance is not enough to catch the selectors eyes.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief selector Inzamam-ul Haq has revealed that the all-rounder will only be considered in the country squad if he performs in domestic cricket and if the team requires his services.
Performance alone is not enough. We will only consider including him if we need him, Inzamam said. Inzamam was talking at a Geo News morning show on Monday.
Inzamam further informed that the criteria applies to other discarded players as well including, opener Ahmad Shahzad and Umar Akmal
The same applies to Umar Akmal and Ahmed Shehzad. They were kept out for disciplinary reasons and would need to earn their place back into the team.
Afridi has been a star performer for the Rangpur Riders at the BPL, but is yet to represent the Men in Green in any international match since the World T20 earlier this year.
