SOFIA: Bulgaria's ruling GERB party candidate, Rosen Plevneliev, leads the presidential race after a first round of voting with about 40 percent support, two exit polls showed on Sunday.
An Alpha Research poll showed Plevneliev winning 40 percent of votes, meaning he would face Socialist Ivailo Kalfin with 30 percent backing in a run-off next Sunday October. 30.
A second poll by Gallup International put Plevneliev on 41 percent and Kalfin on 27 percent.
