Pakistan won the first one-day international in Peshawar through the Duckworth-Lewis method by seven runs against arch-rivals India. The bookmakers have given some percentage points to India because of their huge total of 328 runs in the first one-day international.
The rate for India was 65 on 100 while Pakistan was around 55 on 100. Pakistan having won 11 of the past 13 matches and nine of the last 11 against India, the odds are now swimmingly poised on the home. Pakistan having beaten England, have followed up with a deserved win over a pretty good India side, and they are now brimming with confidence that has quite a few people talking about them as candidates for World Cup success next year. Their balance looks good. Captain Inzamam is back Shoaib Malik scored 90, the top-order appeared to be sound.
Kamran Akmal looks a real find, having already notched up three one-day hundreds in his short international career. Salman Butt, Shoaib Malik and Younis Khan were the hot favourites to perform in the first one-dayer and they once again occupy the top for second-one day tie, placed at 4 to 1. Beyond them, the ever-dangerous and now in-form Shahid Afridi is rated at 8 to 1.
Sachin Tendulkar's century, breathtaking innings from Irfan Pathan and Dhoni, sees them on the top slot of bookmakers for India.
Inzamamul Haq is only the third batsman in history to be dismissed for obstructing the field in ODIs. Rameez Raja was the first against England at Karachi in 1987-88. He suffered the agony of being dismissed on 99, when he hit the ball with his bat to avoid being run out while attempting a second run to complete his hundred off the final ball of the match. Mohinder Amarnath was the second, when he kicked the ball away from the bowler to prevent being run out, against Sri Lanka at Ahmedabad in 1989-90.
