imageISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) Friday approved Rs.2.56 per unit reduction in power tariff for August under monthly fuel adjustment formula.

The regulator approved the tariff reduction on a petition filed by Central Power Purchase Agency (CPPA).

However, the reduction would not be applicable to the consumers of K-Electric and those who used upto 300 units.

The relief would be given in billing of next month.

The CPPA on behalf of power distribution sought reduction in power tariff owing to reduce fuel prices.

The regulator was informed that 40 per cent electricity was generated from hydle, 28 per cent from furnace oil and 24 per cent from gas. A benefit of Rs.26 billion would be passed on the consumers on account of low fuel prices and better energy mix.
