KANPUR: India needed another three wickets to win the first Test Monday as New Zealand, chasing 434 runs for victory, were 205 for seven at lunch on the final day in Kanpur.
The visitors, who resumed the day on 93 for four, were still 229 runs behind their target in India's landmark 500th Test match.
