shehla-razaRECORDER REPORT

KARACHI: Deputy Speaker Sindh Assembly, Syeda Shehla Raza has assured business community that she will apprise Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Qaim Ali Shah of their concerns over two weekly holidays in Karachi.

Speaking at a meeting organised on Saturday at Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), she said that she herself was not in favour of five days working week.

Raza said that two weekly holidays was the federal government's decision to deal with energy crisis. It may be mentioned here that on Saturday (yesterday) only federal government offices remained closed, as the Sindh government has not issued any notification as yet.

Responding to a question she said that she would arrange business community meeting with the chief minister of Sindh on the issue of two weekly holidays, early closure of markets, marriage halls and trading centers.

Leader of Businessmen Group and former President KCCI, Siraj Kassim Teli criticised the federal government's decision for observing two weekly holidays saying that someone had misguided the government.

He said that it was responsibility of the KESC to provide electricity. Loadshedding was being carried out in the city because KESC was not willing to resolve its internal problems.

President KCCI Mian Abrar Ahmed said that it was duty of the government to maintain law and order situation in the city and facilitate business community.
