Pakistan has always promoted peace and harmony at international level as its supreme and national objective, said Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Shahid Karimullah on Friday. He was addressing the closing ceremony of 2nd CISM World Golf Championship at Pakistan Maritime Museum.
He said, "In pursuance of our national objective, we regularly organise and conduct international and regional sports meets because we believe that sportsmen are the torchbearers of global friendship and amity."
Shahid Karimullah eulogised the role of international organisation CISM and its contribution to bringing the armed forces together through sports over past half century.
"I am sure it will progress and prosper in the times to come," he said about the CISM.
He said being in uniform and entrusted with defence duties, the armed forces of a country were doubly charged to propagate this international obligation.
He said presence of participants underlined the mutual concern and sincerity to that noble cause and assured them that their participation would prove to be a catalyst in garnering coherence and concordance.
