Pakistan may play a vital role in resolving Palestine-Israel conflict and President Musharraf may visit Middle-East to help resolve this longstanding dispute, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Sheikh Rashid said here on Saturday. Talking to reporters after the launching ceremony of a magazine, the minister said that next two years are very crucial for Pakistan due to new global situation with the expectations of settlement of Kashmir and Palestine issues. He said that the resolution of Kashmir and Palestine to the satisfaction of all concerned is of immense significance in view of situation in Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan.
Sheikh Rashid observed that the US President should play his part to resolve the Palestine and Kashmir disputes to improve the image of America in the Islamic world.
Earlier speaking at the ceremony, Sheikh Rashid called upon the media to promote optimism rather than pessimism.
Media in the neighbouring country despite having different points of view has nationalistic approach and unanimity in issues pertaining to reputation and image of their country.
It is therefore imperative, he asserted, that we should be honest with ourselves to ensure that things based on facts are highlighted and do not resort to sensitise issues.
Congratulating Muzzafar Ejaz, a senior journalist and editor of the launched magazine "Bisat"", said that although time is changing fast but print media has not lost its importance.
Referring to articles published in different magazines and newspapers, the minister said these are enough to change the world opinion.
Sheikh Rashid asked the Pakistani media not to indulge exaggerating the issues and promote the truth. The ceremony was also addressed by President Korangi Association of Trade and Industry, Abdul Haseeb Khan, President FPCCI Aviation Committee, Mohammad Yahya Polani and others.
