SHANGHAI: Chinese shares were up 2.43 percent in early trade Tuesday, after an arm of China's sovereign wealth fund said it had bought stakes in the country's biggest banks, dealers said.
The Shanghai Composite Index, which covers both A and B shares, gained 56.95 points to 2,401.74.
