Deutsche Boerse, NYSE Euronext announce merger

NEW YORK: Deutsche Boerse and NYSE Euronext announced Tuesday they had agreed to merge, a move which would create the world's biggest exchange by revenues and profit.

"The companies will combine to create the world's premier global exchange group, creating the world leader in derivatives trading and risk management, and the largest, most well known venue for capital raising and equities trading," the two companies' boards said.
