imageKARACHI: Because of non-proper training, all five Pakistan Boxers have been eliminated from world qualifying round for Olympics held in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Admitting the responsibility of defeat in Baku, Secretary of Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) Iqbal Hussain said this while talking to APP.

"The International boxing is changing continuously across the World and there is dire need of international training for Boxers but unfortunately no training was imparted to boxers which was the main reason beyond the defeat", he added.

Besides, no International tours were organized for training and international boxing exposure, he said.

Apart from this, our boxers did not participate in International Boxing Tournaments since long time which could help them to learn more about new trends in Boxing field, Iqbal Hussian said.

All this was due to shortage of funds, he said adding we were provided with Rs. 30 millions by Government of Pakistan in 2012 and since then we did not get any support.

However, other countries have spent million rupees on the training and tours and because of this, many of them have qualified in world qualifying round for Olympics, Secretary of PBF asserted.

In the lightweight preliminaries, Pakistan's promising boxer Awais Ali Khan was undone by Uke Smajli of Switzerland 3-0

Similarly, in the flyweight category preliminaries, young Mohammad Asif went 0-3 down against experienced Tanes Ongjunta of Thailand and Tanveer Ahmed was lost to Dongyun Lee of Korea in the middleweight preliminaries.

The 2010 South Asian Games gold medalist, Niamatullah had lost his bantamweight fight against Caraballo Rodrigues Carlos Jose of Portugal 0-3 and Ali Ahmed had been beaten by Anvar Yunusov of Tajikistan also 0-3.
