imageDERA GHAZI KHAN: The Punjab government has allocated Rs 287.6 million to upgrade existing and introduce new health facilities in the division for 2016-17.

The officials said eight health facilities, including five basic health units and rural health centres, and three tehsil headquarters hospitals would be upgraded.

A sum of Rs 31 million was allocated for upgradation of BHU Karam Daad Qureshi under a Rs 70 million scheme, Rs 4.4 million for BHU Paharpur, Rs 32.5 million for BHU Chak 61/A at tehsil Chobara, Rs 23.3 million for establishment of THQ hospital at Fatehpur and establishment of a trauma centre there and Rs 20 million each for THQ Kotaddu and THQ Alipur.

A sum of Rs 11.6 million was allocated for establishment of a trauma centre at THQ hospital Taunsa Sharif, Rs 20 million for establishment of Cardiology Centre at DHQ hospital Rajanpur, Rs 14.2 million for trauma centre and dialysis centre at DHQ Muzaffargarh and another Rs 10 million for Urology ward there.

A sum of Rs 40 million was allocated for a cardiac centre at THQ hospital in Jatoi, Rs 35 million for children ward at DHQ hospital in Layyah and another Rs 15.6 million for PCR laboratory there.

The officials said that 28 health centres would be upgraded and eighteen new health centres would be set up in DG Khan division.
