Indian government should initiate confidence building measures (CBMs) in occupied Kashmir to create congenial atmosphere for talks process.
This was stated by a former president of AJK, Abdul Qayyum Khan in a private TV channel's programme.
He said that pragmatic approach should be shown in occupied Kashmir to create a desired ambience as Kashmiris are living in a miserable environment.
Qayyum said that though both countries, India and Pakistan, are moving towards betterment, but Kashmiris are also awaiting CBMs to be taken in occupied Valley.
He said that after sincere efforts, everything could be amicably settled including the core issue of Kashmir. He said that only that formula would be accepted which would be according to the aspirations of Kashmiris.
He said that on the one hand Indian government is talking about the initiation of talks and, on the other, inhuman activities are being carried out by the Indian troops to suppress Kashmiris.
Qayyum said that Indian government should take solid steps, like cessation of brutal activities, withdrawal of troops from occupied areas, and black laws should also be repealed in order to create the desired atmosphere. He said that it has been proved that coercive measures can not solve the problem.
He said the Kashmir issue could only be solved peacefully through result-oriented dialogue process.
