KARACHI: K-Electric in a statement here on Monday maintained that the utility provider was not carrying out unannounced load shed in any part of the city and supply to all parts of the city is as per routine.
It further added that some small pockets in the city, spread over 6,500 square kms, experience disruption in supply due to localized faults and these isolated incidents should not be confused with `load shed'.
K-Electric's spokesperson has reiterated that tripping mainly occurs in areas where the losses and power theft ratio is high. Faults and tripping happens mainly due to overloading of respective PMT or Feeder.
Giving the example of protest in Ibrahim Hyderi, the KE spokesperson shared that the residents of the area owe more than Rs. 43 million to K-Electric whereas the rate of monthly paying ratio is as low as 5 percent. Similarly, the protest in Liaquatabad was in retaliation for the Kunda removal raid in the area by the KE teams.
KE requests all consumers to join hands with it in its movement against power theft to eradicate this menace from society, the statement added.
