As many as five employees of the Examination Branch of the Punjab University were dismissed from service on the charges of tampering with the results of seven candidates of BSc, Chemical Engineering and Technology First Professional Second Annual Examination 2000, Second Professional First Annual Examination-2001, and BEd Second Annual Examination-2000.
Earlier, an inquiry committee comprising Dr Muhammad Saeed Akhtar Mahr, assistant professor of the IER, found them guilty of the charges and recommended their dismissal from the service.
The university authorities detected the irregularity and brought to the notice of the vice-chancellor, who immediately ordered an inquiry.
PU Registrar Colonel Masud-ul-Haq (Retd) also heard the accused employees personally before announcing their dismissal.
Those dismissed from the service included: Senior Clerk Muhammad Iqbal and junior clerks Abdul Atiq Khan, Ayub Qadir, Hafiz Abdul Qadir and Jehangir Ali.
Administrative Officer Lal Khan Minhas and Assistant Muhammad Hanif Minhas were also found involved in the case and have been compulsorily retired.
