At first, it seemed like that the Microsoft Edge was basically a rebranded version of the Internet Explorer, but it seemed that the company has been keeping a major focus on the Edge, with big upcoming changes
Microsoft latest browser has received two important additions i.e. extensions support, and pinned tabs. According to Gizmodo, other than just displaying internet the added features are some of the most important available in a browser.
Whereas, pinned tabs are important, when working with a limited screen size on laptops and smartphones.
According to VentureBeat, extensions support which is currently available only on PC’s, was supposed to arrive by the end of 2015, but the feature was delayed until this year. Microsoft didn’t say how long it plans to let testers play with them before releasing the functionality to all Windows 10 users.
All extensions are to be managed and purchased through the Windows Store. In the preview build though, extensions need to be side loaded manually. Coming to how to download the extensions: Firstly, click on “More” in the top right corner of Edge, click Extensions, and then “Get extensions.”
Developers, on the other hand can manually load extensions into Edge through these steps:
Step#1 Download an extension, Step#2 Select Run from the download notification, Step#3 Select More (…) and then Extensions and lastly, Select Load extension, choose the extension folder, then Select folder.
Now, let see how these additions would push Microsoft Edge in finally becoming a real browser.
