pak_ukKARACHI: British entrepreneurs are keen to bring investment to Pakistan as they feel a social responsibility to help Pakistan and also play a role in its economic development.

These views were expressed by Sir Thomas Harris, Vice Chairman Pakistan Britain Trade Investment Forum who is heading a 19-member delegation on a visit to Pakistan.

The delegation which is currently here in the city, called on Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan and discussed matters of mutual economic interest.

The British business delegation also met members of the Overseas Investment Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and explored avenues and potential for developing further business opportunities in Pakistan.

The delegation leader, Sir Thomas Harris, talking to media said that the British entrepreneurs were keen to explore the investment potential in mining, oil and gas, infrastructure and the financial sectors in Pakistan.

He added that the delegation members also hope to potentially encourage foreign investment into Pakistan, and enhance and develop skilled employment opportunities in these sectors.

He pointed out that that would help lay the groundwork for strong potential growth in the future.

The British Deputy High Commissioner and Director for Trade and Investment Pakistan, Francis Campbell, welcomed and introduced the delegation to the gathering.

Campbell said the UK government was fully committed to build on the bilateral trade relationship between United Kingdom and Pakistan in various sectors and hoped that that visit would help to further enhance trade links between the two countries.
