imageJHANG: Eight workers were killed while 20 others sustained serious burn injuries when a boiler exploded in a private sugar mills situated on Cantonment Road Shorkot City, on Tuesday morning.

The workers were busy in cleaning and starting the boiler when it exploded. Rescue teams, workers and people of the area started rescue operation.

Rescue sources have confirmed deaths of eight persons and said that the burnt workers were shifted to THQ Hospital Shorkot City.

While hospital sources said that most of the injured workers were in serious condition as over 70 percent of the bodies of affected workers had been burnt. After examination the workers are being shifted to other cities including Multan.

Meanwhile official sources said that Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has expressed his grief and sorrow over this tragic incident and ordered inquiry of the incident. He expressed his sympathies with the bereaved families.
