Argentine soy prices stay flat, trade nearly nil

BUENOS AIRES: Argentine closing soy prices and trends on Thursday:

* Soy prices in Rosario closed unchanged at 1,350 pesos per tonne ($305), with brokers representing farmers leaving the trading floor to keep local prices from following Chicago's soy futures lower.

* Trade volume was practically nil, as it has been for the last few days, with farmers waiting for higher prices to sell their beans.

* Soybean futures on the Chicago Board of Trade fell for a third straight session as the dollar rallied and traders positioned ahead of a jobs speech by US President Barack Obama later on Thursday and ahead of the US Department of Agriculture's September crop report next week.

* In Rosario, soybeans for May 2012 delivery, priced in US dollars, ended stable at $325 per tonne.

* In the port of Quequen the oilseed traded 4 pesos lower at 1,350 pesos per tonne, while in the port of Bahia Blanca soybeans rose 7 pesos to end at 1,365 pesos per tonne.
