European stocks steady at open before rate calls

LONDON: Europe's main stock markets were stable at the start of trading on Thursday following sharp gains a day earlier and before interest rate decisions from the ECB and Bank of England.
London's FTSE 100 index dipped 0.08 percent to 5,314.29 points, Frankfurt's DAX 30 index edged up 0.08 percent to 5,410.08 points and in Paris the CAC 40 nudged down 0.08 percent to 3,070.58.
The European Central Bank and Bank of England are expected to leave their main lending rates on hold at policy meetings on Thursday.
