 KARACHI: The city received moderate to heavy showers in different areas including Airport, New Karachi, Model Colony, Saddar, Landhi, Gulshan- e-Hadeed and North Nazimabad here Tuesday.

Besides brief spells of drizzle in some of its areas, the metropolis otherwise had experienced a hot weather during the last few days.

The heavy rain turned the weather pleasant and Karachiites got some relief.

According to the Met Observatory, Jinnah International Airport, the heaviest rain of 70mm was recorded at Met Observatory of Old Airport.

The Met Office also recorded 60 mm at Model Observatory Met Headquarter, PAF Faisal Base 32mm, Gulshan-e-Hadeed 30mm, Jinnah Terminal Obervatory 30mm, Saddar 22.5mm, Nazimabad 18.2mm, Landhi 16mm and New Karachi 3.2mm.

In view of directives by DCO Karachi Mohammad Hussain Syed to Municipal Services and other staff for immediate de-watering in rain- hit areas, the City District Government Karachi staff drained-out rain water from low-lying areas with the help of heavy machinery and pumps.

The Meteorological Department has forecast a cloudy weather with chances of rain/ thundershower with a few moderate/ rather heavy falls in the city during the next 24 hours.

The maximum temperature will remain in the range of 32 to 34 degree celsius.

Edhi Information Bureau told APP that a man identified as Waseem 25, was electrocuted to death near KDA Chowrangi, North Nazimabad here.

No other incident of loss of human life or property has been reported so far from any part of the city.
