desrISLAMABAD: Deputy Commissioner Officer Kohistan, Imtiaz Ali Shah has demanded of the federal government helicopter to provide aid to the flood affected people in Kohistan of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to PTV, Imtiaz Ali Shah said that "All routes leading to Kandiya are closed due to previous year floods.

At least 16 dead bodies were recovered in Gibral area. He said helicopters would be used to provide assistance to the flood hit people due to closure of routes in the area.

However, local police said that a dozen more dead bodies have been found. We are waiting for helicopter to provide medical assistance to the affected people".

Reports say massive destruction took place in Gibral area of Kandiya Tehsil of Kohistan and its connection has been cut off with other parts of the province.

The official said that 1600 families were residing in Gibral area of Kandiya. A local journalist Mohammad Bacha said heavy rains and flash flood brought destruction in the area. He added that more than 70 houses have washed out due to the floods in the area. People are facing shortage of food, he added. He said that people also need a hospital in the area. He further said that local people are taking part in the relief activities.

Chief of Met Office, Mushtaq Ali Shah says they have informed about the expecting rain in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and said that rain will continue for two days. Kohistan is one among the backward district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
