Nexen says bitumen production rose 10 pct at Long Lake Project

Nexen Inc , Canada's No. 5 independent oil producer, said late Wednesday that bitumen production volume rose 10 percent at its Long Lake oil sands project.

In the fourth quarter, Nexen said bitumen volumes rose to 28,100 barrels per day.

Nexen and its partner Opti Canada Inc , which has a 35 percent stake in the Long Lake oil sands production and upgrading project, had earlier struggled to boost bitumen production since it opened more than two years ago.
