 KARACHI: Shipping activity remained active at the Port Qasim where four ships carrying containers, chemicals and diesel oil berthed at Qasim International Container Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Tuesday, August 16.

Meanwhile three more ships carrying containers, chemicals and diesel oil also arrived at outer anchorage or Port Qasim during last 24 hours.

Berth occupancy was managed at the Port at 69 percent on Tuesday where a total of ten ships namely C.V Maersk Kolkata, C.V Al-Sabahia, M.V Tycoon-II, M.V Alexi-I, M.V Afamia, M.V Hai Yu, M.V New Sun, M.T SC Beihai, M.T Gem of Dahej and M.T Al-Salam-II are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, corn, chemicals, palm oil and diesel oil respectively during last 24 hours.

Cargo handling operation were carried out smoothly at the Port where a volume of 79,922 tonnes, comprising 55,692 tonnes imports and 24,230 tonnes exports Inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 2,256 containers (TEUs) was handled at the Port during last 24 hours.

Three ships C.V Maersk Kolkata, C.V Al-Sabahia and M.V Hai Yu sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while five more ships M.V Alexi-I, M.V New Sun, M.T SC Beihai, M.T Gem of Dahej and M.T Al-Salam-II are expected to sail on same day.

Four ships C.V Libra Copacabana, C.V CMA CGM Strauss, M.T Pacific Energy and M.T East Med Gas carrying containers, diesel oil and chemicals are expected to take berths at QICT, FOTCO and EVTL respectively on Wednesday, Aug 17, while four more ships C.V MSC Roberta, C.V Nele Maersk, C.V Glory and C.V CMA CGM Eiffel are due to arrive at Port Qasim on Thursday, Aug 18.
