seoulSEOUL: South Korean shares soared 3.96 percent in morning trade on Tuesday after a Wall Street rally overnight boosted Asian stock markets.

By lunchtime the benchmark KOSPI stood at 1,864.29, up 70.98 points as foreign investors turned net buyers after days of heavy selling.

Market bellwether Samsung Electronics was up by 3.68 percent and Hyundai Motor, the country's top automaker, surged more than 5.5 percent.
