Times of India sexist jokes on ‘Women’s Day’ created sudden outburst

The World celebrated ‘International Women’s Day’ on Sunday March 8, 2015. Different media groups as well as celebrities paid homage to women on their day, but India’s largest circulating newspaper ‘Times of India’ took a more unconventional approach.

Times of India (TOI) published a sexist joke on International Women's Day which created a sudden outburst on social networking site.

The joke reads, “Why haven’t they sent a woman to the moon yet?. The answer, It doesn’t need cleaning”.

This is not the first time TOI created such stir on social media, previously, they were criticized for disrespecting women when had a public row with actress Deepika Padukone for drawing attention to her cleavage.
