President Obama is hosting the cast and crew of ‘Selma’ for a screening of the movie at the White House on Friday.
As per foreign media reports, director Ava DuVernay and her cast are invited to the screening, which will take place at the White House. The film revolves around the back story of King Martin Luther Jr. voting rights march, the movie stars David Oyelowo as Martin Luther King, Jr.
The film tells the back story of King's 1965 civil rights march in Alabama from Selma to Montgomery. Common and John Legend are also nominated in Academy awards for ‘Best Original Song’ for their track 'Glory' from the same movie.
President Obama and the First Lady have hosted a number of Hollywood movie screenings in the White House over the past years. ‘Selma’ is a latest in a line of Oscar contenders like last year's ‘Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom’ and 2012's ‘Lincoln’ and ‘Beasts of the Southern Wild’ shown in the White House.
