ISLAMABAD: Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Asif on Monday asked the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) not to link a political issue with religion.
Speaking on a point of order in the National Assembly, the minister urged the MQM to end tension with Leader of Opposition Syed Khursheed Shah as he had twice tendered apology on the matter.
"I request the MQM not to drag the issue as the country cannot afford politics of confrontation,", he added.
Asif urged all the political forces to work for the welfare of masses, and development, progress and prosperity of the country.
The minister said the Parliament being a supreme forum should be utilized for addressing all the issues.
Khawaja Asif said it was unfortunate that tolerance in the society had ended.
