imageLAHORE: Provincial Energy Minister Choudhry Sher Ali has said the Punjab government is developing small coal power plants in seven cities of Punjab for generating energy to mitigate power shortage and eliminate loadshedding.

Talking to a delegation, he said the country was facing the worst energy crisis and the government was taking effective measures to overcome it. He said, elimination of energy crisis was vital for keeping the wheel of industries moving on.

"Ridding the people of loadshedding and bringing the country out of darkness is our mission," he added.

Besides Lahore, he said, small power plants of 55x2 megawatt running through coal will be set up in Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Gujrat and Multan, he said.

He added that coal yards would also be constructed for storing coal for these projects in Punjab and concerned officials should take immediate steps in this regard.
