Govt to overcome shortage of gas during winter: Asim
ISLAMABAD: Minister for Petroleum, Dr. Asim Hussain on Monday said the government will be a in position to overcome shortage of gas during coming winter season.
Talking to a private news channel, he said that the extra gas consumptions will have to be checked to improve overall situation.
The Minister said gas fields established in various parts have not been producing more gas and some of them have closed. However, he added that gas production at various gas fields is being enhanced and developed.
He said theft of gas will not be tolerated and in this connection law is being formulated to check the incidents.
He said increase in the gas price is very necessary and the final decision will be taken in the cabinet meeting.
To a question, he said the position of gas has become somewhat alarming so it is necessary that the prices of gas be increased.
The Minister said that oil prices are lower in Pakistan as compared to neighbouring India where gas prices are higher.
