SHANGHAI: Chinese shares rose 0.46 percent in early trade Tuesday with power firms leading the gains on news that the country will raise retail power tariffs soon, dealers said.
The Shanghai Composite Index, which covers both A and B shares, was up 12.54 points at 2,718.91.
The Shanghai A-share index added 13.09 points, or 0.46 percent, to 2,847.62, while the Shenzhen A-share index jumped 7.52 points, or 0.66 percent, at 1,148.32.
