imageISLAMAABD: Deputy Commissioner Khuzdar Syed Abdul Waheed Shah on Tuesday admitted the presence of mass graves at Totaq, Baghana tehsil before the Supreme Court (SC).

The three-judge bench of Chief Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani, Justice Khilji Araf Hussain and Justice Sheikh Azmet Saeed resumed hearing of a sou-moto notice regarding the mass graves, which was taken on a news report published in a local newspaper.

The DC Khuzdar told the court that he was informed about the presence of mass graves by a person. He and Commander Frontier Cops Colonel Tanveer Ahmed visited the area and found 13 bodies buried in mass graves. Five were buried in one grave while the rest were in pairs.

On a bench's query, Shah replied that blood samples of the buried persons had been sent for DNA tests. After getting the test results, he would be able to tell the court that whether any missing person was among the dead or not.

He assured the court that he would be continue his inquiry about the mass graves.

Home Secretary Balochistan Asad Gillani apprised the bench that a one man judicial commission of Justice Noor Muhammad Musqanzai had been constituted to probe the matter which would submit its report within a month.

The bench adjourned the case till March 7 and directed the DC to submit a progress report.
